Hi Peggy – In the last month, my e-mails to you have been returned with the message: “mailer-daemon”. Thanks.

  2. No one seems to be getting any of my emails either! Thanks for letting me know that it’s not working either way. Try jmpgavan@yahoo.com — I know that one works.

    Dear Hatching Cat NYC,

We love you work . We would love to re-post your great story, “1890: The Crazy Cat Ladies of Washington Heights and The Murderous Midnight Band of Mercy, Part I” on our site harlemworldmag.com?

We will add a link back, your company name, and “Read more” link in the post.

    Thank you,
    Danny

Danny, I’m so glad you enjoy the stories! Please feel free to share this and any other Harlem animal story on your site with the link and Hatching Cat NYC. By the way, I am currently writing a book called The Cat Men of Gotham, which will be coming out in the fall. There will be a couple of Harlem cat stories in that book so I would love it if you did a little review or noted the book when it comes out. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks!

    Hi Peggy,

I’m watching your True and Unusual Tales, and just loving it. I look forward to reading and listing to much more about “your” wonderful cats.
Thanks for a very enjoyable evening!
    Mary

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I will be doing a few more presentations over the next few months–some all about cats–so stay tuned either via this page or my Hatching Cat NYC page on Facebook or on Twitter. I hope to “see” you soon.

    Hello!

My name is Dayna Hilton and I am the Executive Director of the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping reduce fire related deaths and injuries among children and their families.

I am working on our next live-streamed safety show and will be doing a story on famous Dalmatians and found your photo of Mike.

Would you mind if I included it in our live stream and recorded video? I would be sure to give you photo credit.

Am working on this segment today and hoping this note to makes it to you okay.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks for your consideration!

Dayna and Molly the Fire Safety Dog

      Hi Dana,

I’m also a firefighter — I’ve been volunteering for more than 25 years! Sure, I’d love to see Mike featured on one of your programs — are you also going to share a bit of the story? You can credit it, Peggy Gavan, aka, The Hatching Cat NYC (www.hatchingcatnyc.com) I also have a great story on my website with old photos of Jiggs the Jelly-Belly fire dog — that’s also a fun story about a very dedicated Dalmatian who took advantage of all the free meals he received at New York restaurants. I’d love to write a children’s book about Mike or Jiggs someday, but finding an agent and a publisher in children’s publishing is very challenging. If you ever come across any established children’s authors who would be interested in partnering with me on a book about Mike or Jiggs, please let me know. (BTW, I watched your program with the woman from the Dog Museum; I’m going to have to contact her to see if she’d be interested in hosting my virtual program, The Dog Days of Gotham.) Thank you for reaching out; I look forward to watching this program (please let me know when it’s available, and I’ll post the link on my fire department Facebook page for all our members’ kids to watch).
      Peggy

  6. Dayna Hilton says:

You are the best! Thank you!

I retired from the fire service after almost 20 years. How wonderful you have been volunteering for so long!

Will be sure to credit you! Emily at AKC has a story about Mike and your photos will fit along perfectly! Since the museum is closed, she wasn’t able to access the archives.

Yes, definitely contact Emily! That’s exciting!

I wrote a children’s book about my first dog, Sparkles (the Fire Safety Dog) and ended up publishing it myself. Self-publishing might be the way to go. : )

You have my email, let’s keep in touch and thanks again!

    Dayna

May I please also use your carriage photo? I have been unable to find one.
