Arthur William Wallander, Sr. (1892--1980)

Arthur William Wallander, Sr. (1892–1980) led the Police Air Squad in the early 1930s and then moved up the ranks to become New York City Police Commissioner in 1945. He was the only Police Commissioner to be retained by an incoming mayor of New York City.
