The station house at 19 Leonard Street was built in 1868 as a dwelling, but was remodeled in 1869 for the 5th Precinct (the 5th became the 8th Precinct on May 1, 1898). This precinct was abolished and the building was closed on December 1, 1913. The building was occupied by Cordley & Hayes Corporation (manufacturers of ice cream freezers) and later a furniture warehouse, until it was converted into condo lofts in the mid-1990s.
