The St. Regis Hotel, constructed by Trowbridge & Livingston for John Jacob Astor IV, opened on September 4, 1904. Princess Lwoff-Parlaghy moved into the Fifth Avenue hotel in 1915, paying $20 a night for a small two-room suite.
