In 1915, citizens asked Borough President Pounds and Public Works Commissioner Voorhies to turn the lots once occupied by the old Municipal Building (fenced-in area on left) and Murphy Park into a parking lot for all the autos congesting the streets adjoining Borough Hall. (Oh, the horror, people were parking their cars n front of front of the apartments, leaving no place for the residents to park!) A year later, no action had been taken.
