John B. McDonald

The contractor: John B. McDonald served as General Superintendent of the Croton Dam and directed several large railroad rehabilitation projects before winning the bid to construct New York’s first subway. Required to post a $7 million bond with the city comptroller to proceed, he turned to Belmont for financial support.
