1934: Arson and Homicide, the New York Cats on the Job at Police Headquarters » MetroRiots

Mulberry Street police headquarters, Orange Riots

Right from the start, the location of the Mulberry Street headquarters was a strategic mistake. Sandwiched between tenement houses and isolated from major north-south and crosstown avenues, it was in actual peril during the Draft Riots of 1863, and had to be protected with a strong militia during the Orange Riots of 1871, shown here.
