Elbridge Thomas Gerry

Elbridge Thomas Gerry, the grandson of Founding Father and Vice President Elbridge T. Gerry, was Peter Goelet’s favorite nephew and one of his only true companions. (It was said Peter was fonder of Elbridge than of his storks.) Elbridge served as counsel to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and co-founded the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
