1895: Nicodemus, the Prize-Winning Alley Cat of New York Prankster Brian Hughes » Cosey
Nicodemus had to compete with about 200 other cats in the first-ever National Cat Show, including Mrs. Fred Brown’s Cosey, a Maine coon that won Best in Show. Several of the cats passed away during the inaugural event due to excessive heat inside the building.
