St. George ferry landing

This is the view of the St. George ferry landing that Alice had on her long trip back home to Coney Island. The first motorized ferry service between New York and Staten Island started in 1817 with the steam-powered Nautilus commanded by Captain John De Forest, the brother-in-law of Cornelius Vanderbilt.
