The Hopper homestead, located on Broadway at 50th Street, was still standing in 1872 when The New York Times wrote about the quaint old house. At that time, it was said a wild, savage-looking cat could be seen on the property hunting for sparrows. Perhaps this was one of Ranger’s ancestors. Museum of the City of New York Collections
