1880: Hindoo, the Hall of Fame Horse That Raced on Avenue X in Sheepshead Bay » Sheepshead Bay Race Track
The Sheepshead Bay Rack track was surrounded by dense trees and old farms. In 1879, the Manhattan Beach Improvement Company bought 108 acres of land from the Voorhies and Vanderveer families, adjacent to the track, to be laid out in streets.
