Dorothy Kilgallen

In 1936, Dorothy Mae Kilgallen of the New York Evening Journal competed with two other New York newspaper reporters in a race around the world using only public transportation. She was the only woman to compete in the contest and she came in second place. When she wasn’t racing around the world, she often wrote about Rusty in her syndicated column, The Voice of Broadway.
